Quit Smoking For Stoptober!

When I was younger, I remember my Grandad used to smoke. It was something I always hated. As a child, I used to hide his tobacco whenever he left it lying about in the hope that he would just not bother looking for it and not smoke anymore. Obviously, that never worked, as he would just tell me off and get me to return it, or buy more. I never gave up though, and eventually, he did actually quit - not because of me, just because he decided that it was too expensive, and a bad habit. I couldn't have been more proud of my Grandad in that moment. Even as an adult now, I haven't ever smoked a cigarette, it doesn't appeal to me, and I just think it is a really bad habit, one I would encourage anyone to quit.

October is obviously well on its way now, but it doesn't stop you being able to take part in Stoptober, the aim of which is to stop smoking for the duration of October and then hopefully carry it on for good. In my mind, I personally think if you can manage to quit for one month, it is something you can easily carry on with, and not return to smoking. If you stop smoking for 28 days, your 5 times more likely to stop for good!

Now I'm not saying go cold turkey, that isn't going to help. I know that my Grandad used gum to help him quit, and there are plenty of other medicines to help you quit - from nicotine replacement therapies - like patches, gum or inhalers - to prescription tablets. There are so many things that can help with those pesky cravings.

Another popular way to quit is by using E-Cigarettes or 'vaping' as it is sometimes known. An e0cigarette is a device that allows you to inhale nicotine through vapour rather than smoke. E-Cigarettes come in a variety of models and work by heating a solution that typically contains nicotine, propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerine, and flavourings. E-cigarette vapour doesn't contain tar or carbon monoxide, two of the most harmful elements in tobacco smoke. Aquavape is fully supporting Stoptober, and you can purchase bundle deals saving you over 50%.

So if you are currently in two minds, thinking about quitting - give it ago! You will not regret it. Remember that you can get lots of free help and support to quit smoking through the NHS. They also have a really handy app, which can help you track your progress and see how far you have come, keeping you motivated each day. it can also show you how much you have saved, and distract you on the days where you really want to give in.

Let me know down in the comments if I have inspired you to join in with Stoptober!
