Bowling & Prezzo [The Ordinary Days]

With the countdown to our baby girl's arrival on, we have been trying to make the most of our weekends as a family of three before chaos sets in and our routine is disrupted for a little while. It is also going to be such a big adjustment for Emily, so we are trying to make a little bit of a fuss of her while we can. On Sunday, the weather wasn't that great but we decided that we would make the most of it anyway, I'm so fed of feeling sick and being stuck indoors all the time through fear of being sick or bringing on labour (as I'm in preterm labour, I'm supposed to be taking it easy).

Usually Sam and I debate for hours over what we are going to do, or where we are going to go, before we know it, it ends up being 3pm and we haven't ventured anywhere. Then we decide it's too late to go anywhere, any one else do that? After much deliberation we actually managed to make a decision by 11.30am - I have to say I'm quite proud of us for that. We decided that we would take Emily bowling, she has never been before but I knew that she would really enjoy it. We booked in to take her bowling at Hollywood bowl, which is a short drive from us, and then we planned to go for a meal after.

Hollywood bowl in Milton Keynes has to be one of the nicest places I have visited to go bowling, they have 18 lanes and lots of facilities on site, such as amusements, and food and drink. The one big bonus for me is you are able to bowl in your own shoes! I used to hate wearing shoes that other people had worn when I went bowling when I was younger and now I'm pregnant with swollen feet, the idea of borrowing shoes didn't really appeal to me, I can't be the only one right?

Emily had so much fun! She even won, I think that was mainly down to the fact she took everyone go! Every time it was mine or Sam's turn to bowl, she would ask if she could take our turn and since we only purchased one game, we figured we would let her. The absolute delight and enjoyment on her face made it all worth it. She had the best time and couldn't wait to tell everyone who we saw later in the day about bowling, and how she knocked the pins down and even got a strike. There really is something so special about watching your child do something they really enjoy.

Apparently Emily had worked up quite the appetite after bowling, so we headed to Prezzo to try out their new #LaFamiglia sharing pasta bowl. The Prezzo restaurant chain has more than 280 restaurants across the UK in all shapes and sizes ranging from old libraries to harbour side eateries taking in the view. Our local Prezzo is in a new build leisure complex, it it a great place to stop and relax - it also has free parking which is always a bonus.

We love eating meals out, I'm usually the washer-up'er in our house, so it was nice to have a break and not have to worry about the washing up. It was also nice to sit down and spend time with Emily and Sam, as I mentioned earlier, our baby girl will be here soon, so it was really nice to sit down as a family of three and make the most of our time together before it all gets a little hectic. We are massive pasta lovers, so I knew that as a family the sharing bowl would be perfect for us. The generous pasta sharing bowl is ideal to share between a family of four. You can have the La Famiglia in four different options, Penne Arrabiata, Spaghetti Carbonara, Spagetti Bolognese or Penne Alla Rusticana. So, there really is something for everyone.

We opted for the Spaghetti Bolognese with some garlic bread on the side. I have to say I am glad we did, it was delicious. I loved that there was no stress of picking off the menu, as we all were having the same dish, there would be no arguing or food envy when the food arrived. It also made ordering really simple, as we didn't have to remember lots of different dishes. The idea of the La Famiglia is that you are given empty plates and a giant serving spoon to help yourself. The other thing I really loved about this is it lessens on food waste, I'm not a very big eater, especially because I am so pregnant now, I can't eat as much as I did before. Sam on the other hand can happily eat a much bigger portion than me, so he was able to dish himself a bigger portion. I have to say we couldn't finish it all, we did give it a good go, but there was just way to much.

Emily really enjoyed her meal, she is usually a super fussy eater but to my surprise she ate the whole thing. The bolognese sauce had pieces of fresh tomatoes chopped in it, and herbs. Normally things that I would blend up as she would outright refuse to eat it at home but to our surprise she finished her whole plate. Toddlers are such funny things. She also really enjoyed dipping her garlic bread into the bolognese.

We did have space for some ice cream though, and I'm so glad we did as it was delicious. Emily opted for strawberry (her favourite), I had strawberry and vanilla, and Sam had chocolate and Vanilla. The strawberry ice cream was delicious, I have to say it was one of the best I have tasted, it had little pieces of strawberry in it which were nice and refreshing. Sam said the chocolate was really good too, as it had mini chocolate chips in it, and it complimented the vanilla perfectly.

Lunch at Prezzo was the perfect way to finish our day out. Emily loved that she got to go bowling, and got ice cream. Both Sam and I enjoyed the quality time with her, and it was nice knowing that when we got home we just had to make her something light for tea before she went to bed, and then we had the evening to ourselves which is a rare thing!

The staff in Milton Keynes Prezzo were amazing, they were so kind to Emily, stopping to talk to her in between serving other peoples drinks (as she is a complete chatterbox and wants to talk to everyone). The food arrived very quickly, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was so chilled out and laid back, there was no rush to finish your meal and get out of there. We will definitely be making a return to Prezzo (especially because my pregnant brain can't stop thinking about that yummy bolognese!)
