Last year we made homemade autumn themed playdough, and I thought
I would give it ago this year again. Emily loves playdough, she constantly asks
to play with it and it is one activity I know she can never get bored of. To make
the playdough autumn themed I add some spice to the recipe. I used cinnamon,
and ginger. Emily and I also picked some leaves on our walk, to then include it
in the activity. Emily loved to roll the playdough in balls and then push it
down with a leaf. She also enjoyed smelling the playdough.
2 cups of plain flour
1 cup of salt
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 and 1/2 cups of just boiling hot water
I just then added a blob of paint, and a couple of tablespoons of ginger.
Everyone knows that playdough is a popular activity with children, this simple activity lets children use their imaginations and helps to strengthen the small muscles in their fingers, and help to improve their fine motor skills. Sharing, taking turns, and playing with playdough with your children is also a great way to improve their social skills, and language.
Will you be making autumn playdough?
Lovely photos! You can tell Emily loved this activity, bless her! I really want to try this, although I still need to try and make my own playdough first! x
