Our Book Advent

So today is December 1st, the day I finally get to put my Christmas tree up, yay. Also the day Advent calendars start. Before Emily was born I saw the Christmas book tradition on Pintrest (I think), I thought it was such a brilliant idea and knew it would be something I wanted to do with my little girl. I love Christmas and think it is such a magical time of the year, I have my own little traditions for example baking cookies on Christmas eve, and I want Emily to have her own little traditions too. While I am sure you will hear a lot about them over December, this is the first one I am going to introduce you too. As you can see from the picture above, Emily does have her two chocolate advent calendars (one from us, and one from her Nanny and Grandad). She also has a WOW toys farmyard advent calendar, and her book. She is going to be over the moon when she sees them in the morning.

So what is the book advent calendar, well let me tell you. Everyday of December 1st till the 24th, Emily will get to open one new book, that will be our bedtime story or it could be a book for her to read/play with. I am also joining in with Vlogmas so if you want to see what books Emily gets, make sure your subscribed here. She has a few Usborne touchy feely books in there such as 'Thats not my snowman, penguin and fairy'. Emily is a little bookworm so I know she will thoroughly enjoy this. Usborne kindly sent us a lovely book to include in our Christmas advent calendar.

The book they sent Emily was 'Baby's very first Christmas playbook'. This brightly coloured board book will appeal to Emily, it has simple, high-contrast illustrations and touchy-feely areas. There are flaps to lift, and music to play aswell, this book is bound to keep her attention. Each page has a different festive scene to explore, it includes a slippery, sparkly ice rink and a beautiful Christmas tree. You can also see the baby animals in their beds waiting for Santa Claus. Emily hasn't had the chance to play with a musical book yet, but she loves to push buttons so I know she will really enjoy pushing the chunky buttons on the sound bar. After having a look through the book and seeing the beautiful illustrations it is definately a book that I would purchase for Emily, and I am certain it is going to become a firm favourite.

Do you have any Christmas traditions, I would love to hear about them, leave me a comment and let me know.

*I was sent the usborne book in exchange for a review, all opinions are my own*
