Snow Days [Ordinary Days]

The past couple of days we have been making the most of the snow, I know personally I have never seen it snow this much before, maybe when I was younger but I can't say that I remember. As soon as it started to snow, Emily was full of excitement, ran to the window, bouncing up and down shouting 'mama it's snowing, really snowing, I wanna make a snowman, pleeeeeeease'.

Who am I to argue with that? The only problem I had is we don't have a garden, just a balcony, and there wasn't enough snow on the balcony for her to make a snowman. I popped down the stairs, filled a bowl up with snow, and brought it up for her. I was able to keep Isabelle inside for the most part, as she is a little under the weather, and let Emily have fun building her snowman. She made such a cute little snowman, I admit I did help a tiny bit, but she did most of it by herself. We then set him up with one of Isabelle's old hats that she had outgrown, two chocolate buttons for eyes and a carrot for his nose. She was absolutely thrilled with her little snowman - he has been there three days now, and each morning she runs straight over to the window to check on her snowman.

I managed to pick up a sledge for the girls on Wednesday, as Emily was desperate to go outside in the snow, and has mentioned them before, I searched everywhere for them with little luck. Just as I was about to give up hope, I found one in Go Outdoors, and it was on clearance too making it a bargain. We got it out today and I'm happy to report both of the girls loved it. Isabelle wasn't so sure at first, but she definitely got used to it fast, and it helped that she had her big sister right there with her. Emily loved being a big helper and holding onto Isabelle as we pulled them around.

We brought Isabelle inside after about ten minutes, just because it was too cold. The wind had started to pick up, and the snow had started to fall again. Emily did play out there for a little while longer. She had lots of fun playing on the sledge with Sam, who was deliberately trying to throw Emily off the sledge, and she found the whole thing hilarious. The day then ended in a snowball fight, naturally. Emily found it very frustrating trying to make snowballs, and for a while was just happy to throw big handfuls of snow, but she eventually got the hang of it. Today was one of the loveliest days we have had as a family lately, I know that when I look back, these will be the memories that I treasure forever.
