Planning Isabelle's Baptism

When Emily was born, I had her christening all planned out. I booked the service before she was even born, and by the time she was 3 months old it was all over and done with. She was christened, we had a lovely ceremony and a little after party. The one thing I do regret, looking back was that we didn't hire a photographer. I asked a family friend to take some pictures, but a lot of them didn't turn out very well, and I was left feeling really disappointed with the few photographs I did have.

When I had Isabelle I knew that I wanted to hire a photographer for her christening. I don't want to leave it to chance this time. I want some nice pictures to look back on and really remember the occasion - not that I don't remember Emily's, I just get a little sentimental over photographs.

Isabelle is 5 months now, and I still haven't got round to planning her christening. I am aiming for January-February now, just as it gives me a chance to get Christmas out of the way, and really plan for her christening - to make her day as special as I possibly can.

I still have to find an event photographer, someone to make a cake, and then there is the subject of an after party. Like I already mentioned I did have an after party with Emily, but this time I'm thinking of skipping that not because I don't want to, but just because Is pent the whole of Emily's after party talking to people and thanking them for things that I never actually got the chance to just be present and enjoy the party. I really don't want that this time around, so I have been thinking about just having a nice quiet meal, with the few people that do turn up to the christening and Isabelle's godparents. Sure it will be smaller, but it will be so much nicer to be able to just talk to people, and not worry about everything else.

I'd love to hear your opinions, do you think smaller is better? Or should I throw Isabelle an after party like her sister had. Also, I'd love to hear it if you have any recommendations for a photographer. I have been using Bidvine, to find a local trusted events photographer, who hopefully will take some beautiful pictures. So far I have contracted a few for quotes, but I haven't actually picked one yet - so if you are local to me and know someone, feel free to send me over there details!
