Halloween Basket [2017]

If your regular readers, you will know every year I put together a Halloween basket for Emily as a treat, seen as we don't usually go trick or treating, and this year was no exception, I just love to raid the shops for little gifts that I know she will enjoy, and then watch her face light up when I give her the basket. I also decorate her bookshelf with Halloween themed books to read before bed, which she loves - but more on that in another post.

Every year I add a couple of books for Emily, she really is enjoying bedtime stories now, and I couldn't resist the urge to add two new Halloween themed books to her shelves. Emily really loves anything Halloween related, even when it isn't Halloween, with her favourite story being 'room on the broom'. The two books I picked were skeleton school and 10 little monsters. I absolutely love 10 little monsters, it has beautiful illustrations. The 10 little monsters set off in search of an adventure, but what will they do when they meet a howling werewolf, giant spider, and other scaries in the night?

I also added a glow wand, some paw patrol Halloween themed stickers, Halloween projector torches, ghost glowing balloons, pumpkin carving kit, cupcake cases - for a Halloween bake that we are making later in the week. A gorgeous little cotton dress for Emily to wear which has pumpkins, bats, cobwebs and ghosts on - which she absolutely loves! It's also perfect for her to wear all of October on the run-up to Halloween. Some chocolate because no basket is complete without chocolate and lastly a Sylvanian families baby trick or treaters set. Emily is a big fan of Sylvanian families, and when I saw this set I knew it would be the perfect addition to her current collection of Sylvanian characters. She absolutely loved the fact they came with a little trick or treat baskets - and the bunny (her favourite animal) is a witch, just like she plans to be for Halloween.

Naturally, I couldn't leave Isabelle out, when I saw this my 1st Halloween outfit, I had to get it for her, it's perfect. I love the orange leggings with spiders, ghosts and pumpkins dotted all over it. I also got her 'That's not my witch..' Emily absolutely loved this range when she was a baby, and still does now. Isabelle does have all Emily's old books, but I really want her to have a few additions of her own, and I absolutely love this one.

I'd love to hear if you put together a Halloween basket for your children?

  1. Interesting post. I've never heard of a halloween basket before but I can understand why they would be uber popular with kids at this time of year!

  2. Lovely selection of Halloween treats that they can enjoy for a lot longer than just one day. We tend to give a Halloween book and teddy for our boys especially as the eldest doesn't like chocolates or sweets. Love the adorable Sylvanian families Halloween set and that super cute Halloween outfit.

  3. I can't say I've given my kids a Halloween basket. I suppose they get so treats from their trick'n'treat runs that I don't think I can bear even more stuff being in the house.
