Butlins Skegness [Family Holiday]

As you may know, if you follow me on social media, we recently took a trip to Butlins in Skegness. We went the week after Emily's birthday, now I'm not going to do a full review on Butlins, because we paid to go as a family, and it was a much-needed break for us, and also Isabelle's first holiday - so I didn't really have my blogger hat on or take as many pictures as I normally would because I was just soaking up the time with my family. That being said, we had an amazing time, and Emily hasn't stopped talking about it since we got home. She really wants to go back again, and we would be happy to go back again - we are actually looking at booking another break next year.

I was really impressed with the accommodation, we actually stayed in the standard apartments, which were pretty basic, our apartment had 2 bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower and a TV in the lounge. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was perfect for what we needed. The apartment was really clean, and the staff were amazing - we actually had a broken kettle and the staff were quick to replace it for us. Emily absolutely loved having her own bedroom in the apartment, and settled in straight away, we were really lucky to have a lovely view of the beach from the lounge in our apartment too.

Emily's favourite part of the holiday was splash waterworlds. It only opened in 2013 and really is lovely. There are flumes and rides, also a quieter paddling area which is perfect for the little ones. Emily loved the children's pool, it was warmer than the bigger pool which made it perfect for Isabelle as the bigger pool was too cold for a baby. The children's pool also had three mini slides, which Emily loved. She went down them by herself, armbands on and wasn't even fussed about going under the water. The swimming pool was really clean, and I would actually go as far to say it was one of the nicest pools we have been to. I also liked that there were plenty of sun loungers around the pool, I was able to leave our towels on the loungers, and get Isabelle out when she had enough - knowing that Emily could still play in the pool with Sam and I was able to watch her making lots of new fun memories.

I was personally really impressed with the entertainment, and since we have returned home Emily hasn't stopped talking about it. She loved the Teletubbies big party show - if you have Teletubbies fans I would definitely recommend heading to Butlins to see the Teletubbies show. It was put together really well and got the children involved. Emily loved that she could dance and sing along to the show. We actually ended up watching it twice during our stay, and Emily memorised the song - which is now also stuck in my mind too as she often sings it.

Emily made plenty of use of the fairground too, Sam and I spent most of our time watching from the sidelines while she went on all of these different fairground rides. They have an area for under 5's (which I think is so fab) which is full of rides that they can go on independently, such as teacups and planes. Emily loved that she had the freedom to pick which ride she wanted to go on and then go on it by herself - little miss independent.

We were also only a stone throw from the beach, and it had its own gated access which was really nice, as it meant that no one could just wonder on site, and we were able to gain access to the beach really easily. By the gated access, there was a massive sun lounger, umbrella, beach ball and bag - which also had a little sandpit. Meaning when the gates were closed, the children could still play in the sand and make sandcastles which I think was such a brilliant idea.

Overall we had such a lovely stay, and made some really wonderful memories. Emily had so much fun, and hasn't stopped talking about her holiday since we got home, and I'm sure Isabelle enjoyed it too - even though she is only 3 months. We can't wait to go back again next year, when Isabelle is old enough to join in the fun with her sister - it really will be so cute to see them dancing along together.
