iSwaddle [Review]

When I found out I was pregnant with Isabelle, babywearing was one of the things I really wanted to try out. I had real trouble bonding with Emily when she was first born (due to a difficult labour and PND amongst other things) so I figured the closeness of babywearing would really help speed up bonding with Isabelle. I kindly got offered to review the iSwaddle, and of course said yes, as I not only loved the look of the product, but I also thought it was a really affordable price too.

iSwaddle have a range of products from beautiful animal print muslins to baby carriers. The baby wraps, also called baby sling carriers are used to carry babies usually from newborn up until 18 months of age. They help the parent/wearer easily carry around the baby, and free up hands to do other things while they do. There are 5 different colours - to suit both mum and dads taste. Grey, black, pink, light blue, and navy. While I did love the look of the navy, I decided to go for the grey, as most of my clothes and outfits are grey.

The main benefit for me of babywearing was I would be able to play and do things with Emily while Isabelle was in the sling, happy to be close to me. However, that wasn't the case. I have tried quite a few times to use the sling, and have Isabelle close but she just doesn't like it. From the moment I put her in there until I take her out, she's grouchy, she constantly tries to wiggle about, and just doesn't seem happy. At first, I thought it was perhaps my fault - and I was putting the sling on wrong, or putting her in it wrong, but after getting two other opinions from people, I was doing it perfectly. She just clearly wasn't happy to be that close to me which is fine but a real shame as she is my last baby, and it was something I really wanted to do.

Overall, I am really impressed with the wrap itself. It came in a pull string bag which I think is a brilliant idea as you are able to just pop it in your bag or under the buggy while you are out and if baby gets a little unsettled its right there for you. The material is soft and breathable, it is made up of 95% cotton and 5% spandex material. It is machine washable and you are able to wear baby facing both inwards and outwards.

I did initially think that it would be quite difficult to put the wrap on, but it isn't as hard as I first thought, it was really easy to put it on, and there are written instructions included when you purchase the sling. You can also watch a video on the iSwaddle website, which shows you how to put on the wrap. Retailing at £14.99, I think the iSwaddle wrap is an absolute steal! I would definitely recommend it to other parents who haven't tried babywearing before and want to give it ago, or baby wearing parents who have been doing it for ages!

We were also sent a pack of muslin swaddles, and I have to say they are super soft, and have the most adorable animal prints. They would make the perfect gift for first-time parents.

I was sent the product in exchange for an honest review. However, all opinions are honest and my own.

  2. I think you've made a really important point in this post. Some babies just don't take to things, including baby wearing, and that's OK. It's got nothing to do with the product as it sounds like a great option
