A Letter To My Unborn Baby Girl [Overdue]

I can't believe that I reached my due date, and then went over it. I just want to meet you baby girl but it seems like you have other plans. You clearly did not want to be born in June and are keeping us waiting, I often wonder if you have a date in mind.

I get that it must be very comfortable in there, as you are showing no signs of coming anytime soon. I've had pains, and contractions and false starts for weeks. I'm tired from the sickness, the pelvic pain and the tiredness - but I know as soon as we get to meet you, hold you in our arms it will be worth it, just like waiting for your sister was.

Speaking of your sister she is so so excited to meet you, and I know that you are going to be best of friends. She asks about you every day, please don't keep her waiting much longer. I'm sure she is about ready to burst with excitement. She is going to love you forever, as will we, and you will complete our family.

I know that whenever you come, it will because you are ready, finally. Pregnancy has just been so hard for me, and as the days draw closer to us meeting, the more depressed and deflated I am feeling about if you will ever arrive. Which is silly because of course, you will arrive - I just think once you get past your due date, you wonder what your actually waiting for and every day after that someone seems to ask if today is the day as if you know the answer to that. I know that everyone is just excited to meet you, but I hate having to answer those texts every day.  I'm exhausted and emotional. I can't stop crying and half the time I don't even know why I am crying.

I feel a little selfish writing this, as my one job is to give you a home in my tummy for as long as you need it, and clearly, you still need it. I know it must seem daunting, being born into a big wide world, after months of listening to people and being safe and content inside my tummy, but you will love it. Sure there are lots of people, and it can be busy at times, but you are being born into a family who loves you and adore you so much already.

I wish that you were here already, that we could hold you in our arms and smother you with kisses, but I know that I just have to wait. There are so many things I want to show you, there is a whole world full of adventures just waiting to be had. I hope that no matter what you choose to do with your life, you find true happiness. I want you to know that no matter where you go, or what you do when you reach adulthood, your daddy and I will always be here. You will always have a home with us should you ever need it.

I hope that you find true love, someone who loves you for who you are and treats you kindly. Someone that will be your partner in life, and will always be there and protect you. I hope you find a love like me and your daddy have. The heart racing feeling with butterflies in your tummy from just the smallest of things. I also hope that one day, not before your ready of course you get the chance to experience motherhood. I want you to know what it is like to have that overwhelming love and happiness that having a child brings. The overwhelming feeling that your daddy and I have experienced with both you and your sister.

I hope that you find a true purpose in life, find a dream job and something that makes you excited to get up in the morning. Just know that no matter where you go, you always have somewhere to come home to. I hope you know just how wanted you are baby girl, and we cannot wait to meet you.
I love you so much already, and I'm pretty certain that love will continue to grow once you finally decide to make an appearance. I just hope that you don't keep us waiting too much longer.

Love, your Mama x
