19 Weeks Pregnant [Baby Number 2]

Due Date: June 28th, 2017

Mood:
This week I have had a bit of a up and down week. I had an appointment with the midwife, and an appointment with M (from FACES). Honestly, seeing M couldn't have come at a better time, I didn't realise just how much I had been holding in, or how much I needed to vent. Basically, the midwife turned up unannounced, the reason she used was that I ‘missed’ an appointment. I didn’t have an appointment booked, and didn’t think I needed to see her until just after my 20-week scan, I think it was just a miscommunication between the two of us. However, she then wrote in my maternity notes ‘missed an appointment at 16 weeks’. I didn’t miss an appointment because there wasn’t one booked, and it has been bugging me ever since, as every medical professional I see for the duration of my pregnancy will see what she wrote.

The reason it bothers me so much, is because when I was pregnant with Emily, I was diagnosed with antenatal depression, something that hasn’t bothered me so far in this pregnancy. When I was pregnant with Emily the depression affected me so negatively. I would tell people I wasn’t pregnant, even though I knew I was pregnant, I didn’t accept it. I don’t really know how to explain it, but it is something that I haven’t struggled with this time, although I don’t have that pregnant feeling (due to the fact I’m suffering from HG – not because of depression) I know that I am pregnant, and I have no problem attending appointments. However, it does state in my notes that I have a history of mental health problems, and I feel like the way she worded it would make other people think that I don’t care about the pregnancy – which isn’t true at all. I feel so much better after speaking to M about it and getting it off my chest.

Symptoms: The sickness is still bothering me, however it has reduced slightly, and I am only being sick once or twice a day. The good thing is I seem to have good and bad days, on the good days I'm only sick once, and I can get on with most things.

Sleep: I'm still struggling with getting comfortable enough to sleep, but I was send a Theraline pregnancy pillow to review. It has made the world of difference, I have been able to get so much more comfortable, I'm still waking up 3 or 4 times a night for various reasons, but its helping. I will be posting my review soon.

Movement: Baby E is so active, she is constantly moving and kicking. Sam is finding it easier to feel her kicks now, I feel so much relief now she is kicking, as before I was constantly worrying that she wasn't ok.

Food Cravings: I'm still craving fruit and vegetables. I especially love grapes and cherry tomatoes.

Gender: It's a GIRL!

Highlight of the week: Hearing our baby girls heartbeat on the fetal doppler. Sadly Sam was at work, because the midwife didn't say that she was coming - another reason that I was annoyed with her. Emily got to hear it though, and she was so excited that she could hear her baby sissy, she got really upset that the midwife stopped using the doppler as she wanted to hear more. I was able to record it though, so I could play it back to Emily, and also let Sam hear it.

Looking forward to: Our 20 week scan on the February 13th.

Baby Development: Week 19 - Vernix, a thick, white, greasy substance, is being secreted by glands in your baby's skin to protect it from becoming waterlogged in amniotic fluid.

  1. Shame about your midwife! :(
Can't believe you are 19 weeks pregnant already. It's going so fast isn't it!
