Sprucing Up The Girl's Bedroom

As you may know if you are a regular reader, we are currently expecting baby number two. We couldn’t be more excited about the new addition, but it does mean that the girls will be sharing a room. Which isn’t a problem, as there is plenty of space. It just means there is lots of things I want to change before Baby E arrives. Emily’s room needs a sprucing up, I’m not talking major changes, just little things, like a fresh coat of paint, and a new bed. We are going to be sticking with the same grey, floral and pink theme. So there won't be too much of a drastic change for her.

Saving Money With Groupon Coupons!

- Collaborative post

I have recently been on a little ebay shopping spree, and thought I would share with you some of the things that are on my wish list maybe purchase list too. As you may know I am having another little girl in June, and we plan on the girls sharing a room, which means Emily’s room needs a much needed shuffle around and update. I want to repaint the room, and add a few more nick-nacks/accessories to make it a bit more Emily. When I first decorated Emily’s room she was only a few months old, so I went for pink and grey, and left it without a theme so to speak. Now she is a little older, she is obsessed with bunnies, so naturally I figured I would go with a bunny theme.

Dear, Spooky Monster Leave My Daughter Alone.

Dear, Spooky Monster

While we haven’t actually met, I think it is time we had a chat. I’m getting fed up of being woken at 2am, or 4am or whatever ungodly hour to be told by a toddler in tears ‘mama, the spooky monster is in my teepee’. Why are you in her teepee? Do you not know you are supposed to SLEEP at night time, not wake up my toddler. Why do you feel it is necessary to make her scared of one of her favourite things, now I know your just a figment of her imagination and I have to admit, I am quite damn proud that she has such a good imagination at such a young age. BUT the fact remains, you need to go. I can’t keep walking up every couple of hours, to comfort my upset toddler because you are hanging about in her bedroom.

John Bunyan Sports & Fitness Opening!

Following a £1m investment, John Bunyan Sports & Fitness is opening the doors to its brand new facilities over the weekend of Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th February, to celebrate the official opening and give the local community the chance to try everything it has to offer. The work has been carried out by Fusion Lifestyle, a leading registered charity which provides quality sport, leisure and fitness activities to local communities, in partnership with Bedford Borough Council. Special activities over the open weekend will include a bouncy castle, face painting, a treasure hunt, arts and crafts and a roller disco. There will also be plenty of opportunity to try new sports and activities including soccer school and Sportzone for kids, and we’ll also be showcasing various Les Mills classes as well as gym based classes throughout the weekend.

Valentines Day With My Grandma #ShareTheLove

As you may know if you read my blog often, I have quite a close relationship with my Grandma. Growing up her and my Granddad had a lot of influence during my childhood, they taught me various things, and I knew I could always count on them. I could never repay them for the things they did for me when I was younger, not just the guidance and support they offered me, but for the gifts, and the holidays. That doesn’t mean that I won’t try and show them how much they mean to me, and how thankful I am for all they did. I recently heard about a campaign that Fairfield Care were running, and I knew straight away I wanted to get involved. The campaign is called #ShareTheLove.

21 Weeks Pregnant [Baby Number 2]

Due Date: June 28th, 2017

Mood: This week has been a little better, I have had a couple of days where I have felt down, but I am putting that down to the fact that I am not getting much sleep. I seem to be waking lots during the night thanks to a spooky monster keeping my toddler awake (more about that another time), and the fact I keep waking up to be sick. I'm not sure what is worse, being sick, or a upset toddler. Either way I have spent most of my time feeling exhausted, which is then leaving me feeling really down and anxious.

Baby Wish List

Since I found out I was expecting baby number two, I have been constantly trolling through the baby section of any website I stumble upon. I was excited when we had Emily, but knowing this is the last baby we will have it has made choosing everything so much more complicated. Do I pick a Moses basket or a bedside crib? What kind of colour scheme do I go with, we did all the pinks with Emily, and I feel like I’m over that this time. I seem to be swaying more towards grey, and yellow. Especially with baby E being a summer baby, I think the pop of yellow will look lovely.

Tips For Creating An Elegant Dinner Party

I have heard a lot of chatter about dinner party’s being dismissed and not happening anymore. Well I must say I really disagree with that, I often have friends over for dinner, and while it can be a task when you have toddlers, it is totally worth it. As a person who prefers to stay in, rather than venture out. I love nothing more than putting on a spread for dinner guests, playing some games, watching a film, and just being at home. If you think throwing a dinner party is complicated and stressful, let me tell you – it’s not. Hosting in your own home, in your own environment can be simple, fuss-free and easy. So here are my top tips on how to throw a stress free, but elegant dinner party.

Theraline Pregnancy Pillow Review

One of the things that I have struggled with the most this pregnancy is getting comfortable enough to sleep, having hyperemesis gravidarum means there is literally no time when you don’t feel sick or want to be sick. Meaning tossing and turning at night doesn’t help, it just makes you feel even more sick. When I was pregnant with Emily we purchased a pregnancy pillow, and it was the most uncomfortable thing. The stuffing in the middle broke apart, leaving an uncomfortable gap. The other annoying thing is, you couldn’t remove the cover to wash it, cue vile baby sick smells that lead to the pillow being thrown in the bin a little while after Emily was born. A waste of money in my opinion.

20 Weeks Pregnant [Baby Number 2]

Due Date: June 28th, 2017

Mood: This week I have been feeling a little better, I spoke to M again who confirmed what I already thought - that the midwife didn't mean any offence in what she wrote in my book (if you read my 19 week update you will know what I mean). We had our 20 week scan this week, which went well although we didn't have anyone to watch Emily, and she wasn't allowed in the room with us - which I think is silly as they want you to include other children in your pregnancy so it isn't such a big shock when the baby is born. Also, I think it’s really inconsiderate of some mother’s feelings, I find it really hard to leave Emily with other people, even if it’s just in the next room for a little while.

Zip & Zoe Backpack Review

The new BabyMel range, Zip and Zoe, offers fashion-forward children a chance to step out with lots of unique styles. There is a stunning line up of backpacks and kids’ accessories to choose from, all designed by the New York artist Matthew Langille. Zip, Zoe and their two pets Dylan and Daisy are his original characters, whose playful style and vibrant adventures are featured throughout the BabyMel range for children. Emily was recently given the opportunity to review a Zip & Zoe backpack, after showing her all the various designs, she picked one and she couldn’t wait for it to turn up.

Little Learners Books Review

I love reading, and believe it is such an important thing. It is something that I really want Emily to enjoy doing too, we have always encouraged her to read books, and she always has them close by to grab if she wants to. I make sure I always take time to read together, as I think it is the perfect way to bond. I love introducing Emily to new books, as there are so many wonderful children’s books out there just waiting to be discovered.

19 Weeks Pregnant [Baby Number 2]

Due Date: June 28th, 2017

Mood:
This week I have had a bit of a up and down week. I had an appointment with the midwife, and an appointment with M (from FACES). Honestly, seeing M couldn't have come at a better time, I didn't realise just how much I had been holding in, or how much I needed to vent. Basically, the midwife turned up unannounced, the reason she used was that I ‘missed’ an appointment. I didn’t have an appointment booked, and didn’t think I needed to see her until just after my 20-week scan, I think it was just a miscommunication between the two of us. However, she then wrote in my maternity notes ‘missed an appointment at 16 weeks’. I didn’t miss an appointment because there wasn’t one booked, and it has been bugging me ever since, as every medical professional I see for the duration of my pregnancy will see what she wrote.

Books To Prepare Your Child For A Siblings

Emily is very excited about becoming a big sister. It is all she talks about, you can see the excitement in her face and there is nothing more magical than seeing your child get excited when they are talking about their sibling. One of the things I have really been worried about is how she will adjust to being a big sister, and sharing her parents once baby E is actually here. There is of course, a massive difference between talking about it, and it actually happening.

18 Weeks Pregnant [Baby Number 2]

Due Date: June 28th, 2017

Mood: I'm feeling a little better this week, although I'm still really anxious. I have started to notice that I don't want to go out as I'm scared I will be sick, which is ruining everything. I don't want to become a little hermit because it isn't fair on Emily. I'm hoping that the sickness will start to settle down soon.

Babybond Gender Scan [Baby Number 2]

When we found out we were expecting another baby, of course we were thrilled. While being pregnant is supposed to be a happy time, for me it really isn’t. I have mentioned before how anxious I get when I am pregnant, this time around I have also been really poorly which added to the anxiety. I had so many questions buzzing around my head 'what if my sickness meant that baby wasn't growing properly', and 'would I know if something wasn't right'. When I was pregnant with Emily we decided to get a Gender scan, so we figured we would do the same this time around. Sure, Sam and I are so inpatient and really wanted to know the gender, but it was more about IF the baby was ok.

17 Weeks Pregnant [Baby Number 2]

Due Date: June 28th, 2017

Mood: I'm still feeling a little bit down in the dumps, but I am also very poorly so I am hoping that is the reason, and not because I'm getting depressed again.
