What's On Emily's Bookshelf: Halloween Edition

I have found myself purchasing a few new books for Emily’s book shelf recently, with the seasons changing I have found myself shuffling her books. Emily adores books, she would sit all day in her tepee and read if we gave her the opportunity to do so, and I love nothing more than reading, so I’m sure she has picked it up from me. I thought I would share with you some of our favourite Halloween and Autumn books, but also a few of the new ones we have picked up too. Be warned there is quite a few!

So here are a few of the books we have on Emily’s shelf this year, I have lent towards board books. purely because Emily is at that delightful toddler stage of destroying everything, and so far, she hasn’t found a way to destroy the board books.

Autumn
Peter Rabbit: Pumpkin Party
Funny Bones
Boo! Haiku
Little Cat: Finger Puppet Book
The Scarecrows wedding
That’s not my owl
That’s not my hedgehog

Emily was very lucky, and received Little Cat and Boo! Haiku to review. Her favourite has to be the little cat as she is currently obsessed with cats. Little cat gets spooked by a friend’s silly disguise, then curls up at home with her Halloween treats. You can use the plus finger puppet which is permanently attached to the book to make the little cat come to life. Little cat gives parents and children a fun, interactive way to play and read together. It is also the perfect size for toddler’s hands. Emily absolutely adores this book and has been carrying it around with her since it got delivered.

Boo! Haiku was a book I was really fascinated by, it has beautiful bold and bright images inside, which really make the book come alive, the bright illustrations capture the scary silliness.
Here’s a spooky Haiku just for you!
Broom across the moon
Pointed hat at the window
Hair-raising Cackle
Can you guess who from this haiku?

A witch, a bat, a skeleton, a jack-o-lantern, a ghost, a black cat, a spider, an own, and a scarecrow are all hiding in the pages of this clever Halloween themed book. The book will keep your attention and keep you guessing. Emily isn’t really old enough to guess what the haiku’s are but she has really enjoyed sitting with me while I read her the book. She also loves looking at the illustrations.

So tell me, what’s your favourite Halloween book?

- I was sent the products for the purpose of the review, however all opinions are my own.
