WOW Toys London Range

Emily was recently given the opportunity to review the new London range by WOW toys, it is a brand that I adore, and Emily has many of their sets. So of course, I said yes. The London range is made up of three toys, London bus Leo, Taxi Ted and the palace guard's. We recently featured Taxi Ted in our toddler gift guide, but I wanted to go into more detail as Emily really adores the toys.

Bedtime Bing and Owly Nightlight Review

Emily has a new found obsession with Bing, I feel like she is a little late to the party on this one. I remember when Bing first started appearing on Cbeebies, and she was not interested in the slightest. Now she asks for him constantly and adores the fact he is a bunny – I’m not sure if this is because her favourite animal and toy is a bunny, but none the less she loves him. When I was asked to review the Fisher Price Bedtime Bing and Owly Nightlight, of course I said yes. It sounded like a product Emily would adore.

Priory Country Park

We decided to get out the house this weekend, sometimes you just get cabin fever and really need to get out. Saturday was a day like that for us, we decided to head to our local country park, Priory. We have been there several times as It is just on our doorstep. Priory country park is Tucked away on the banks of the River Great Ouse; Priory Country Park is made up of 250-acres.

Tips To Get Through A Bad Day

As a regular reader you will know I fight daily with depression and anxiety, I have never hidden from the topic, and have frequently shared my ups and downs with you - my readers. One thing I get asked on a regular basis is how do you cope on a bad day, what makes you get through it or even turn the day around. It actually got me thinking, what do I do to get through. So I thought I would share my top tips to get through a bad day.

Yumbox Review

A while back we were sent out the YumBox mini, and Emily absolutely love it. It came in really handy to pop in my changing bag for Emily’s snacks, I also loved the fact it was leak proof. The only thing that was bothering me was how small it was, the more I used it the more I wished it was bigger. I was recently given the opportunity to test out the original YumBox, and I couldn’t wait as I knew I would love it just as much as I loved the mini. I decided to go with a purple one, as that is Emily’s favourite colour. It is available in several colours though.

Autumn Bucket List

(sorry about the poor quality, it was really hard to get a good picture of the wreath because of the glitter reflection)

Autumn is my favourite time of the year, I feel more relaxed and I love the sound of crunchy leaves. Autumn also brings a whole list of things I want to do with Emily. Last year I put together an Autumn bucket list and found it so productive. We managed to do so many things as a family that I would have forgot to do if I didn't have my bucket list to refer to. So this year, I told myself I would definitely put together another bucket list, and blog or vlog about the things we tick off it.

Emily's Birthday Party

Emily has a lovely little birthday party the week before her birthday, nothing big or extravegant, just a few of her little friends, some cake and a lot of playing. She had the best time, and it was so lovely to see her have fun with her friends. It really is the small memories in life that we take for granted, I thought I would share a few photographs from her party, So one day she can look back on this.

The Forest Of Marston Vale

I'm sure if you’re a regular reader you will know we love nothing more than getting out and exploring new places. One of our favourite places to visit is the forest of Marston vale, it isn’t far from us, and it’s a place we love to explore. It is so peaceful there, and Emily loves to be outdoors. Every time we have visited we have found something new that we didn’t know was there.

Autumn Kitchen Wishlist

Autumn is approaching fast, and is one of my absolute favourite times of the year. There is nothing better than snuggling under blankets, with thick knit socks and a hot chocolate when its cold outside. It is also a time of the year I spent most of my time in the kitchen. There is nothing better than good traditional winter warmer dinners, such as Shepard’s pie, casseroles and homemade pie dishes. Oh and homemade crumbles and apple pies. I do need a few new things for my kitchen this year though, and I would call them essentials, so I thought I would share my little wish list with you. You may also see a theme as the things I have picked are all copper. I adore this colour, and it will fit in well with my kitchen colour scheme.

#CaptureChristmasMagic

If you are a regular reader, you will know that I adore Christmas. It is my favourite time of the year, and I cannot wait for the festive season to start. I love the build up, and we always get up to lots of seasonal crafts. I'm so so excited to share a new little community with you today.

Summer Bucket List Recap

The end of summer is so close, with September 22nd marking the start of autumn. While I am glad to be saying hello to autumn and winter, with big snuggly coats, hats, and hot chocolate. Most importantly Halloween and Christmas, I am sad to see summer go. I put together a summer bucket list back in June of the things I wanted to do over summer, while I didn’t manage to tick them all of, we did get a fair few done and I wanted to share them with you! I had so much fun creating this bucket list, and it actually helped me stay more focused and rather than saying 'what shall we do this weekend?' and wasting a day, we actually picked something off the list, and went out to do it!

Making Ice Cream Sundaes With Emily

As you may have noticed, I have a little girl with a very sweet tooth. As soon as I open the freezer to get dinner out, she runs over and asks for ‘Ice cream’. With the hot weather we have been having recently, I decided to make some homemade ice cream sundaes. They were super easy to throw together, and there really is no right or wrong way to make them. Plus you can tailor it to your own taste. We recently went for a meal out and a sundae was £4.99. I could make them at home for less than £1! So that is exactly what me and Emily did.

How To Survive On A Students Budget

When I was sent this infographic from B&M I knew I had to share it, it is full of really useful tips on how to survive on a student budget, and how to make the most of a student loan. While I'm not going to university, I know a few people who are and would find this post really useful. I actually plan to implement a few of the budget saving ideas myself, such as applying for a 16-25 rail card, we visit Brighton a fair bit as my brother lives there. For £28 a year we will receive a 3rd off rail fares. Also another one of the money saving tips was to make a packed lunch before you go out. I used to do this all the time, and recently I've been a little lady with it, I really need to get back to it as it saved me so much money!

Take a look at the infographic below, and let me know if you find it useful!

Happy 2nd Birthday Emily!

Our, Em-nem Bug!

How is it possible my 6lb baby is now two! You have been in our life for 104 weeks, it feels like yesterday we brought you home. As I looked back through early photographs of you last night, I saw many of your expressions that I have come to know and love. Especially that cheesy little grin you pull whenever we ask you to smile (I hope one day you figure out it isn’t your actual smile). We have treasured every moment since you came into our lives, you have filled our home with so much love, laughter and cheer. I'm so thankful that I started this little blog, as I have been able to capture all of those special moments and days out with you. It is so nice to look back on all of the old photographs and your monthly updates. I love to see what you were doing at a particular age and I know you will treasure those too.

Toddler Gift Guide

How is it possible that my little girl is two on Monday! I honestly just cannot get my head around the fact she is turning two! This year Emily has actually been harder to buy for than she was last year. Although she now has a preference on what kind of toys she likes, that changes weekly. Also her most played with item is her kitchen, and she has so many accessories for it, that she can play with it for hours and there is pretty much nothing additional I can buy her for it. I am also constantly getting asked by family members what to get for her, so I figured I would put together a little gift guide, to show you what I have brought, or am thinking of getting for her.

Mad Hatter Tea Party

Emily's birthday isn't until Monday 12th, but I wanted to throw her a little tea party. I have to be honest, it didn't exactly go to plan. I made these beautiful Alice in wonderland inspired invitations, and then ended up texting everyone two days before the party to change the venue. Last year I didn't plan any kind of party for Emily, which lead me to feel a tiny bit out of my depth this year - I'm sure every parent feels like this the first time they plan a children's party. Luckily Emily is way too young to notice if anything was out of place, or if I missed anything. As far as she was concerned, there was a slide, her friends and a buffet. She was happy.

Party Bag Contents

Emily had a mad hatter tea party on Saturday, with a few of her little friends. I searched for ages for things to go into her party bags, as I didn't want to go with the typical party bag things that would get chucked in the bin or broken quickly. I looked online for ages for blog posts about toddler party bags and couldn't really find anything, so I figured I would share with you what I put inside Emily's party bags.

Respecting Our Older Generation #BreakingBarriers

Our world has a funny way of looking at our older generation, it seems to be an assumption that 30 is your golden age, and if you haven't achieved what you want to achieve by then, you're never going to do so. Realistically that isn't the case, my grandfather taught me a great deal about age. He taught me that it is just a number and you’re never too old to do something you love. Just because we get older doesn't mean that we stop achieving, doing the things we love, or being creative. I remember my Grandad running around the park with us when we were younger, he would never just sit there and watch, he was always involved and was one of my biggest inspirations in life. He sadly passed away when he was just 62, it goes to show age doesn't determine how long your here on earth for. He was actually the reason I pursued a career in elderly care. I love working with the elderly, they always have a story to tell, and teach you the most fascinating things.

Fisher-Price Bright Beats Learning Lights Dance Mat

We were recently contacted by Mattel UK to see if we would like to review the new learning lights dance mat. Emily absolutely loves dancing and singing, so of course I said yes. Fisher-Price has teamed up with professional dancer and celebrity mum Kimberly Wyatt to celebrate music and dance, and encourage active play.

My Favourite Moment From Travelling

It's 1am, and I am wide awake looking through holiday photographs. The truth is, as amazing as our first holiday as a family of three was, it was a new place to explore that me and Sam had never been too. Also, Emily was a tiny little dot, and she didn't really understand what was going on. She was just six months old, and at that age they just want to be somewhere familiar. I'm sure we had more sleepless nights on that little get away, than we did during the new-born days. It was nice to make memories as a new family of three, but this year we played it safe and returned to a place both me and Sam love. Our go to holiday place - Hemsby.

Picking A Sandpit For Emily

As you may or may not know, we currently live in a flat and hate it. We will be soon moving to a house, so Emily will finally have that garden that she wants and needs so badly, with that in mind we have started to consider garden furniture for her. Eventually we want to get her a big wooden playset, with swings and a side, but that won’t be until next year – maybe her 3rd birthday. I have been looking at sandpits though, and while there is nothing wrong with a plastic one, I would like her to have a wooden one. That way it won’t get damaged, or cracked. After having a good shop around I stumbled upon a site called Wickey, they have tons of beautiful products such as playhouses, sandpits and climbing frames.

Wicked Uncle Review

Everybody loves to receive a gift, right? I am one of the first ones to have a baby out of my group of friends, and I always get the dreaded question come Emily's birthday, or Christmas. what can we get Emily? While it is lovely that people are thoughtful enough to think about Emily, and actually want to get her a gift, I end up running out of ideas fast. We were approached by Wicked Uncle to review there website.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour - The Making Of Harry Potter

Anyone who knows me, will know how much I love Harry Potter. Well maybe not readers of my blog, because I’m not exactly a die-hard-in-your-face fan. I adore the books, and have seen the movies countless times. Since Warner Bros Studio Tour opened I have wanted to go, I just have never got around to it. Well that was until last week, me, Sam, Toni, and Emily headed off in the morning. We actually got there a whole hour and half early so decided to grab breakfast in the nearby Harvester. I’m actually really glad we decided to head to harvester first, Emily ate lots of food, and it kept her going until about 2 hours into our tour.
