Easter Nests

I personally have lots of fun Easter baking things coming up this month, starting with Easter nests, which we made this week. Emily absolutely loves doing this type of non-baking cooking, especially when their is chocolate involved! I love that Emily knows what we are doing and what it means when I get her baking apron out. She gets so excited and will say 'cake, cake' until I reply to her telling her that we are going to be doing some baking.

Ingredients
200g chocolate
shredded wheat
Mini eggs (to decorate)

How to make them?
- Break up the shredded wheat, you can use cornflakes or rice krispies if you prefer. I personally think shredded wheat makes the nests look more like a birds nest.
- Melt your chocolate and then add it into a bowl with your shredded wheat.
- Spoon the mixture into the cake cases, and then add your mini eggs for decoration.

I always look forward to baking with Emily, the more that we do these activities the more she enjoys it and actually part takes. She used to watch me and then wait for me to instruct her on what to do. Now she just pulls the spoon away from me to do it herself. She has become really independant and doesn't need much prompting as to what we do next. I love watching her learn, and seeing her face once what we have made is finished.

  1. Oh those look yum! I did a lot of baking with my daughter before she started school last year. We haven't done much, since she's always busy with playdates. Hope to do more baking with her come the easter holidays :) x

  11. These are very cute and I think easy enough to do with my toddlers. I always use shredded wheat too. I think covered in chocolate is the only way to make it edible!
