Our Netflix Night In

Date nights used to be easy, me and Sam are not ones for going out and partying, so our date nights would usually be a meal out somewhere, or a cinema trip. Now that we have Emily, and my PND makes it extremely difficult for me to leave her, our date nights have turned into a rare takeaways and nights in, Don't get me wrong I much prefer it that way. When Netflix sent us a #NetflixNightIn box, I was eager to see what was inside, it seemed like the perfect thing for me and Sam considering our date nights are night ins. Inside the box was a lovely blanket (by the way it is the softest thing I have ever felt), embroider with Netflix night in, some popcorn, and teabags. Perfect in my eyes.

Me and Sam had a lovely night planned, I made some cookies, we had popcorn and chocolate. Emily was due to go to bed and we were going to watch a movie. I have been feeling down a lot, so Sam was kind enough to let me pick a film, and what better than a good soppy film to cry at. Ghost is one of my favourite films, so I was happy to see that it was on Netflix for me to watch.

Someone else had other ideas, she also thought it was perfect. My little lady that is, she has a obsession with blankets, and since she saw the blanket Netflix sent us, that blanket has become hers. She isn't keen on sharing it, and it has been dragged everywhere. She even made dens with her daddy with the blanket, and then took it to bed. Emily decided that bedtime wasn't actually that intresting, chocolate seemed like more fun, and of course we ended up having a family date night, rather than a date night. What did we watch I hear you ask? Oh Toy story of course. Emily is obsessed with Toy story and lucky for us 1, 2 and 3 are on Netflix. Yesterday alone we watched the trio twice over. I think soon I will know all the words.

Of course I'm not going to complain, there is nothing better than quality family time, I would be happy to watch Toy story all day long if it ment I got lots of cuddles. Although I'm not sure if I was getting cuddles because she wanted to, or because she wanted the M&M's. It is kind of ironic that a blanket sent by Netflix brought the three of us together, because in general that is what Netflix has done for us. Netflix is the only subscription service we use, and I have to say it is on 24/7. I have loved binge watching Orange is the New Black, the Good Wife and Pretty Little Liars. Sam has loved Top Gear, and Suits. Not to mention we have watched Dare Devil and Jessica Jones together. Then there is Emily, she has been glued to Toy Story, Puss in boots, and monster math squad. While I'm thrilled Emily is watching a somewhat educational program, monster math squad isn't really age appropriate but she can't stop laughing at the monsters.

So from our family to you, Thank you Netflix, for providing us with quality family time. For letting me have a hot cup of tea while Emily watches Toy story, and for making it possible for me and Sam to have date night from the comfort of our lounge, even if it does get crashed by our little lady.

*I was sent the night in box as part of my role on the stream team, however all opinions are my own*

  6. That does look like a snuggly blanket. I think whenever we plan a nice film night, one of the kids end up staying up and we watch a kids film instead!

  17. I love the idea of netflix, but our internet speed is a deadly 1.2mbps (yes that's right!) and it takes us 3 hrs to download a film from sky as it is. We just wouldn't be able to stream.

  21. This sounds like a great box! I love Netflix though I feel so jealous that Emily is a Toy Story fan. At least there are three of those so you get some variety. My toddler is stuck on Frozen! Arrgghhh!
