Baking Shortbread

Emily was recently sent this beautiful chef set by Papucci, and I absolutely love it. The set feautires a Chef's hat, an oven glove and a little apron. This set is perfect for imaginative play, or for helping in the kitchen. Emily has a kitchen for Christmas, so I am sure she will love wearing her apron while she is playing in her kitchen. Emily has also been helping me to bake, and has really been enjoying it, so I thought I would share some pictures with you of what we have been up too.

125g butter
55g caster sugar
180g plain flour
1. Preheat the oven to 190C
2. Cream the sugar and butter until its smooth.
3.Gradually stir in the flour until you get a smooth paste. Gently roll out the mixture and cut into shapes. We went for Christmas shapes to make it more festive. Sprinkle with caster sugar and then chill in the fridge for 20 minutes, before baking for 15-20 minutes.

These shortbread biscuits are so easy to make and the taste amazing. Emily's favourite part was mixing the butter and sugar together, she really enjoyed using the wooden spoon. I thought that Emily would get bored of this activity but she actually really enjoyed it and it has made me want to bake more with her. She really enjoyed wearing her apron and loved having a little pocket. She tried to stash some biscuits in there too keep for later, Cheeky little monkey!
