Sleep Diary | Week Three | #TeamSleepSheep

Week two recap
As you may remember from last week we are working with Dunelm to help us get a better nights sleep. Emily was trying out the up and away bedding set, she has been absolutely loving her bedding, she snuggles right in. With the typical British weather blowing hot and cold having a 4.0 tog duvet has been brilliant for those cold days, but also the warmer ones. As I mentioned before there is a warning of 12+ months, I am well aware of this. However Emily gets on better with the duvet set. We have tried the sleeping bag, and coverlet with no joy. Since having her duvet, she has been sleeping really well. Whenever I pop into her room to check on her (which is a good 4-5 times a night) she never needs covering up again, and she isn't even chilly either which is a brilliant thing. I still have majority of the cover tucked under her mattress so it doesn't move anywhere, and the duvet usually just covers her legs. She does have a comfort blanky which is always close to hand. Big thumbs up from us!

Dunelm are the UK's No.1 home ware retailer, they are currently running the disruptive campaign featuring the Dunelm sleep experts, The #TeamSleepSheep - These are four sheep characters who aim to help the nation get a better night's sleep. Aunty Ali, Rory Foam, Theo Thermal, and Barney Blackout Visit you in the twilight if you aren't getting your best nights sleep to give you some much needed advise. This way when you wake up in the morning, you'll know what to do and head to your Dunelm store. If you haven't seen the adverts you can take a look here. You can also follow there updates on Twitter.

Barney blackout has been a busy little lamb. He paid Emily a visit on week one, and returned to visit us this week! We only moved into this flat in October, when we moved in I have to admit I went cheap out on a lot of things with the plan to return and replace once we had a little more money behind us. As you can see from the picture below, the curtains on the left were so thin you could see through them! They also are miles to long, they literally are just about touching the floor of my bedroom. This means that when I have the heating on I have to tuck my curtains behind the radiator, the other problem I have is the nosey neighbors can see through them. There is also no stopping the sun from beaming through it! After envy of how much the blackout curtains helped Emily's sleep, I decided I needed a pair for my bedroom, and dunelm were lovely enough to provide them for us.

Now here is a few things you may not know about me. I have insomnia, it drives me crazy. I can't fall asleep at night, and even if I do its disturbed sleep, I wake up frequently. It also doesn't matter how tired I am, I can't sleep past 8am, which leaves me very irritable. Even though I have plenty of opportunity to sleep I just can't. These blackout blinds were recommends by a behavior therapist who is trying to help me with my anxiety and insomnia. She has recommended trying something called "good sleep hygiene". One of the things on the list is trying blackout curtains, because they block the light and reduce the noise levels. They have improved my nights sleep no end. I still do have trouble getting to sleep, but once I am asleep I'm not woken up by outside light or noise which is brilliant! The other thing that these blackout curtains have really helped with is my migraines. When I get a bad one, there is no tablets that will shift it. I literally just need to be in a dark room and go to sleep. No matter what time of the day it is, these curtains block out all the night, which helps my migraines a great deal! Sam said they have been really good for him to, he is sleeping better, but the only problem he had was when he gets up for work, he doesn't want to go because it is still dark in our bedroom.

Big thumbs up for blackout curtains in general, they have really helped Emily but they have helped us too. I would defiantly recommend getting a pair if you haven't already. They are brilliant for the summer time too!

*I wasn't paid for this post. I received the item for the review purposes. However all opinions are completely my own.*
