Date night

This weekend, Sam decided he was fed up of me moping, and we decided to go out for something to eat. I have to admit, I'm a food lover! There is nothing more I love doing then going out with Sam for food, and soon it wont just be the two of us anymore. It seemed like the right time to take advantage of that fact, I know once Baby E is born, we can get family to babysit, but I'm not really sure how I feel about that at the moment.

We decided to go to The market cross in Dunstable, It's only recently opened this year, and we've never been before. However it is definitely somewhere we will go again in the future. It has a excellent menu with a lot to choose from, you could order from the menu, but they also offered a carvery option. I even had a little peak at the children's menu which looked just as tasty. Both me and Sam had the Bacon and cheese burger. It was absolutely gorgeous, and the size of the meal really shocked me, I thought it would be average size, but when it come out it was massive. Sam had doubled his burger for a extra £1.50, and he really regretted doing so once he saw the size of it. The burgers were lovely, and came with a side of chips, onion rings and coleslaw. The food was served very promptly after we placed our order, it was perfectly cooked, and hot.

The restaurant itself had a lovely relaxed feel to it, and the staff we're very helpful and polite. Which I think is important, but always forgotten these days, They took the time to explain to us how to order, and how the carvery system worked, which allowed us to feel more like regulars then newcomers. Children will also love market cross, there is both indoor and outdoor play areas, which will allow parents to relax and enjoy there meals knowing the children are amused and happy. The other thing that I loved was it was really spacious, there would be plenty of room for a pushchair to move around, or even a wheelchair, it also has a sloped entrance which makes it easily accessible. Which is ideal for when we take my grandparents out. Although we got seated quickly, the restaurant soon became very busy and I would definitely recommend booking a table in advance.

Market cross offers some delicious puddings, Me and Sam actually shared because there was no way I could eat a pudding to myself after my main. I was way to full. We decided to have the melt in the middle chocolate pudding. It was pretty large, and I really didn't expect it to be that big, all the same it was gorgeous. It was served with your choice of ice cream, cream or custard. They also had a glass cabinet with all of there deserts, which I thought was a really nice touch, you could view the desserts before you picked what you wanted. The other thing that I loved (and wish I took advantage of - but definitely will next time) was the fact that they had a take out cake option. If you were too full to eat desert, The restaurant would kindly box up the cake for you, and you could take it with you. Such a nice little touch I thought, and i haven't actually heard of another restaurant offering this kind of service.

Overall I don't have anything negative to say about the meals. The prices were really reasonable, and the food was delicious. I'm definitely going to go back there in the future and take advantage of the garden and gorgeous desert cabinet. Score: 9.5|10
